Eldar Eftekhari

M.A.
PHD STUDENT THERAPIST

I completed my clinical psychology internship at the Centre for Psychological Services and Research (CPSR) at the University of Ottawa and am currently in the process of completing my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa.

I strive to provide a warm, collaborative, and client-centred therapeutic experience that is tailored to each person's unique needs and goals. I believe that every client is an individual with their own experiences, strengths, and challenges, and that effective therapy often requires a unique, personalized approach. For this reason, I take an eclectic approach to therapy, drawing from a variety of modalities to provide care that best fits each client. Rather than relying on a single therapeutic framework, I work collaboratively with clients to identify the approaches and strategies that are most meaningful and effective for them.

My therapeutic style is flexible and exploratory. Together, we can explore the thoughts, emotions, experiences, and patterns that may be contributing to your current challenges while building on your strengths and working toward meaningful, lasting change. I aim to create a supportive, non-judgmental environment where you feel heard, understood, and empowered throughout the therapeutic process.

OTHER PROFESSIONAL CONTRIBUTIONS

My graduate research focuses on adversarial growth--the process of positive psychological change that can emerge following significant adversity or life challenges. Specifically, I am interested in understanding the factors that facilitate this process and help individuals develop greater resilience, meaning, and personal growth in the aftermath of difficult experiences. My research reflects my broader interest in helping
people not only overcome psychological distress but also build fulfilling and meaningful lives.

My previous research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including Psychology and Aging, Memory & Cognition, Personality and Individual Differences, and Neuroradiology.
